To empower communities by protecting women and children, providing essential services, and ensuring community resilience through sustainable development initiatives
Ensuring that all communities are empowered, poverty is reduced, women and children are well protected, and all have equal access to rights and opportunities
The Somali Children Development Association (SOCDA) is women led, locally driven, non-governmental, and non-profit-making organization established in 2016 under the provisions of Somalia’s Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) law and in alignment with the country’s constitution. SOCDA was founded by Somali intellectuals and community leaders in response to the aftermath of the Somali civil war, which left the nation grappling with protracted conflict, weakened institutions, and widespread humanitarian crises. The civil war followed by years of instability, created deep-rooted challenges, especially for Somalia’s vulnerable populations—women, children, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
