SOCDA advocates for and facilitates access to quality education for children in marginalized communities. The organization runs child-friendly spaces, supports schools, and promotes education for girls, ensuring child protection and safeguarding measures are in place.
The Somali Children Development Association (SOCDA) is women led, locally driven, non-governmental, and non-profit-making organization established in 2016 under the provisions of Somalia’s Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) law and in alignment with the country’s constitution. SOCDA was founded by Somali intellectuals and community leaders in response to the aftermath of the Somali civil war, which left the nation grappling with protracted conflict, weakened institutions, and widespread humanitarian crises. The civil war followed by years of instability, created deep-rooted challenges, especially for Somalia’s vulnerable populations—women, children, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
